Pottery I show and tell!

Yay for pottery! This was such an amazing experience. I had a really awesome (and accomplished) professor who's body of work is similar to what I like, so I couldn't have been more privileged. It took me a while to get the hang of it but I was able to make a teapot by the end of the class :D Here's a few of my favorite pieces. I'm hoping to build on some of these ideas.

I really wanted a jar that said ¡azucar! in honor of Celia Cruz and for the fact that my family simply doesn't have a sugar jar.

At NCECA I snagged a bunch of decals to see what they were all about. I like using them; hopefully I'll come up with an interesting set with the remainder of decals I have.

Chinese character for love, "ài." My friend Ninh was teaching me some of his brush stroke techniques.

This lil' dude is one of 5 mugs, all with different expressions. I really want to make a ton more of these!

My first cylinder >__>....

Poop pendants! Ok so it's not pottery but I'm still into jewelry.

I finished all of the assignments in class with enough time for my professor to teach me how to throw a teapot. I can strain my tea in it and everything! ^_^

Needless to say I'm looking forward to pottery II now that I know what I'm doing (sort of, haha). I experimented alot in this class, especially with the glazes. I'm a little bit bummed that I wont have easy access to a wheel for a couple of months but I just bought 25lbs of clay to play with over the summer, so I'll be making pinch pots and trays and other fun handbuilt things. You can check out the rest of my work from the class over on my facebook page.

OOTD: Easter Bonus! Sister addition

The girl behind most of my photo shoots! This is my little sister Chelsea. She's loves pink, glitter, and all things fancy. She has a great eye for composition and knows what I like for my pictures so I can't ask for a better photographer. Unfortunately I have no idea where she got her dress or her shoes at the moment, but I'll be sure to ask  and update this post :)

And here's Moose all dolled up in his lil' tux! Of course he came along to be in the family photos!

OOTD: Easter Sunday/Job interview

Heyooo! So as I mentioned in my last post I've got some catching up to do. I have all these posts just chillin' on the back burner of my mind that I'm finally able to tend to :) first up is this Easter outfit because I love it! I loved it so much that I wore it again for my job interview with the radio station (which I got. Yay me!) I was so proud that this outfit was entirely thrifted--except for the earrings, but I can't even remember where I got them :X.

The dress has such flattering pleating detail in the front with a fun floral print. I told my mom that I was going to find my easter dress from a thrift store and she bugged out since it has to meet her approval. Every Easter my family takes photos, so it's a bit of a big deal (except not really). I found this at Savers for $11.99 and had to buy whether she liked it or not since it matched this blazer I got a year ago.

D E T A I L S :

  • Jacket: Savers
  • Dress: Savers
  • Shoes: Savers
  • Necklace: Goodwill
  • Earrings: gift maybe?

The Home Stretch

My emoticups! they're already glazed and I can't wait to show them off.

ONE MORE WEEK AND I CANNOT WAIT

I have finals and then I'm done DONE DIDLEYDONE. The past month was insanely busy for me and all I want to do is hibernate in my room and catch up on my anime. Last I posted was a recap of NCECA. Since then I've had a couple of fundraisers, the Dragball, a Popup Gallery show, the wet clay deadline, glazing deadline, a field trip to Storm King, my friends' senior exhibitions, a couple of bonfires, and now I'm helping out with the Westville Artwalk...oh yeah and class and work.

I have a couple of posts planned that I haven't gotten around to, unfortunately. I'm hoping this week with my extra time I can catch up on that too :) till then, I'm still active on my other social media so follow me there!
