OOTD: Easter Bonus! Sister addition

The girl behind most of my photo shoots! This is my little sister Chelsea. She's loves pink, glitter, and all things fancy. She has a great eye for composition and knows what I like for my pictures so I can't ask for a better photographer. Unfortunately I have no idea where she got her dress or her shoes at the moment, but I'll be sure to ask  and update this post :)

And here's Moose all dolled up in his lil' tux! Of course he came along to be in the family photos!

Instagram: Snow Day edition

In case you didn't already know, New England is being clobbered right now by Nemo. My school actually cancelled classes for today well before yesterday ended, which is SO rare. Not that I had classes anyways. What's even more rare is the pharmacy closing early; thus me getting out of work early. Huzza!!

My little bro was so awesome and made the fam some hot Nutella chocolate. Approximately one tablespoon of nutella for every cup of milk and you got yourself some Nutella bliss.

around 11pm ....Moose had to piddle.

My Subaru!

I couldn't resist trying to make a snow angel. The snow was about 4 ft deep.

And here is Moose, my strange pup. He really loves the snow. I don't get it. He'll be inside shivering and then want to go outside and prance in the snow, and he's fine. Either way, I hope everyone is safe and warm. I've been catching up on blog posts, homework, and crafts. Feels good!

Thanksgiving Centerpiece DIY

Super quick and easy DIY to add a final touch to your thanksgiving decor. Most if not all of the stuff you might already have!

YOU WILL NEED:

  • twigs
  • leaves
  • pine
  • ribbon
  • optional: gold spray paint

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. gather all the nature you'd want to include into your centerpiece. I wanted to make sure I had all of the colors of fall!
  2. depending on the size of the table, brake the twigs to the size you'd want. I ended up using a total of about a dozen twigs and kept them around two to 3 feet in length.
  3. If you're using spray paint, split the amount of twigs in half and give them a nice coat of spray paint. Wait a couple minutes, flip 'em over and spray the other side.
  4. After your golden twigs dry, layer the twigs into a bunch, alternating between gold and brown.
  5. Using about three feet of ribbon, wrap it around the bunch twice, and tie a pretty bow
  6. using the leaves and the pine, stick them all throughout the leaves until you are pleased!

As you can see, this would look fine with just the twigs, or just twigs and pine; especially for a christmas centerpiece. This idea is totally customizable and didn't cost me a dime! If you found some pinecones, you can spray paint them gold and use them as place settings for a little something extra :3

Hope you like this little DIY! let me know if you've tried this or had a centerpiece DIY of your own!

P.S. - Dont let your dog chew up the material

Happy Thanksgiving!

Insta-roundup: food, friends, etc.

Night one of the Greek Odyssey festival was just me and the fiancé....And his family. He and his family go every night to help out with various tables and jobs. I got a classic gyro complete with tzatziki sauce and a delish slice of spanakopita. Looking back at these pics makes me so hungry!

Night two of the festival of COURSE I instagrammed my precious loukoumades. I also had a frappé, yummmmmm. I took my friend Danisha since we both want to make it to more festivals and fairs this season.

This bag was definitely my splurge of the month. Even though it was only $35, I'm trying my best to stick with a stricter budget. BUT this was justified because although I loved my book bag, It couldn't fit my MacBook Pro 15" circa 2008. I have to bring my computer on campus and this bag can fit that and so much more. Bottomless. Pit.

This is the type of burger my brothers eat. I was in awe of it's size; they finished it in about 10 minutes like, NBD.

Moose owns a tux. He's all set for the wedding.

Me on the homepage of LookSoup while the promotion week was in effect :3

I post on instagram all the time! If you want to see 'em before they make it to the blog, follow me @averenee

insta-roundup: double date, moose, and unicorn poop!

A new thing I'll be doing from time to time, showing ya'll bit of my instagrams! I'll have to admit I originally avoided the app thinking it's a cop out compared to photoshop....But then I thought, who has photoshop on their phone :P? Either way, It has quickly become my favorite way to share some happenings in my life. On to the photos!

Danisha and I planned a double date with our boos to Plan B (odd name for a restaurant I know. Seriously, who named this place? Did they not take health class in 7th grade?) Although the name of the place irks me, one of there specialties is burgers. Their beef is certified organic and humane which is  something I truly respect and support. Very delicious, although I played with my leftovers....

My pride and joy of the weekend was undoubtedly the unicorn poops I made for a BBQ. Zack helped and between the both of us it took about three hours to make one batch. BUT OMGZ SO WORTH IT! I was so incredibly proud and they tasted scrumptious! I couldn't find the edible glitter but the silver gel had a little bit of sparkles so I wasn't too worried. These cookies went to a well deserving crowd; the BBQ was filled with friends, family, laughs, and good times.

Today Moose got a bath. Not one of his favorite activities, if you couldn't tell by the expression on his face in the first photo. The best part about giving him a bath is as soon as we're done toweling him off, he runs 'round and 'round the house for a good half hour. I should really record it next time.

OOTD: Flowy Top, No Makeup

Although I love to wear, buy, obsess over, and play with makeup, I don't wear it every day. I've been working on clearer skin lately since I've got adult acne (probably from stress *le sigh*) I wore this outfit to run errands and go to the mall. I love the feel of this top, nice and breezy!

Greek Easter!

So last week was the Easter I  normally celebrate, and this week was the Greek Orthodox Easter (fiancé's greek, so I'm looking at two easters every year :3) There was lamb and feta and orzo and spanakopita and it was all just so delicious; but that's besides the point. I wanted to take a quick picture of the painting I did for fiancé's yia yia's 90th birthday-- A lovely watercolor of santorini. I've done one a little different than this one here, but this one came out way better. Eventually I'll photograph it properly....but yeah! for my first painting of the year I think I did alright :) Oh yeah and Moose got to enjoy the lamb bone.
